Gyrocar
Un gyrocar est une automobile à deux roues. La différence entre une bicyclette ou une moto et un gyrocar est que dans un vélo, l'équilibre dynamique est fourni par le cavalier et, dans certains cas, par la géométrie et la distribution de masse du vélo lui-même, et les effets gyroscopiques des roues. La conduite d'une moto se fait en prévenant la roue avant; Les effets gyroscopiques jouent un rôle majeur dans la stabilité de tous les véhicules à deux roues. Dans un gyrocar, l'équilibre a été fourni par un ou plusieurs gyroscopes, et dans un exemple, relié à deux pendules par une crémaillère et un pignon. Le concept a été décrit à l'origine dans la fiction en 1911 "Deux garçons dans un gyrocar: l'histoire d'une New York à Paris Motor Race" par Kenneth Brown ,. Cependant, le premier prototype Gyrocar, The Shilovski Gyrocar, a été commandé en 1912 par le comte russe Piotr Shilovsky, avocat et membre de la famille royale russe. Il a été fabriqué selon son design par Wolseley Tool et Motorcar Company en 1914 et a été démontré à Londres la même année.
