Hémocytomètre
L'hémocytomètre est un dispositif utilisé pour compter les cellules. Il a été conçu à l'origine pour le dépouillement des cellules sanguines. L'hémocytomètre a été inventé par Louis-Charles Malassez et se compose d'une glissière en microscope à verre épais avec une indentation rectangulaire qui crée une chambre. Cette chambre est gravée avec une grille gravée au laser de lignes perpendiculaires. L'appareil est soigneusement conçu pour que la zone délimitée par les lignes soit connue, et la profondeur de la chambre est également connue. Il est donc possible de compter le nombre de cellules ou de particules dans un volume spécifique de fluide, et ainsi de calculer la concentration de cellules dans l'ensemble du liquide.
