Sorus
Un sorus est un groupe de sporanges dans les fougères et les champignons. Ce nouveau mot latin est du grec ancien σωρός. Dans les champignons et les lichens, le sorus est entouré d'une couche externe. Dans certaines algues rouges, elle peut prendre la forme d'une dépression dans le thallus. Dans les fougères, elles forment une masse jaunâtre ou brunâtre sur le bord ou le dessous d'une fronde fertile. Dans certaines espèces, ils sont protégés pendant le développement par une échelle ou un film de tissu appelé l'industrie, qui forme une couverture semblable à un parapluie. Sori se produit sur la génération sporophyte, les sporanges dans la production de métopes haploïdes. Au fur et à mesure que les sporongia deviennent matures, l'indusium s'écroule pour que la libération des spores ne soit pas entravée. Les sporanges ont alors éclaté et libèrent les spores. La forme, l'agencement et l'emplacement des sori sont souvent des indices précieux dans l'identification des taxons de fougères. Sori peut être circulaire ou linéaire. Ils peuvent être disposés en rangées, soit parallèlement, soit obliques à la côte, soit de façon aléatoire. Leur emplacement peut être marginal ou éloigné de la marge sur la lame de la fronde. La présence ou l'absence d'indusium est également utilisée pour identifier les taxons de fougères.
