Kulturkampf
Le terme allemand Kulturkampf fait référence aux politiques allemandes en matière de laïcité et à la réduction du rôle et du pouvoir de l'Église catholique en Prusse, promulguée de 1871 à 1878 par le Premier ministre de la Prusse, Otto von Bismarck. Bismarck a accéléré le Kulturkampf, qui ne s'étendait pas aux autres états allemands comme la Bavière. Comme l'a dit un érudit, «l'attaque contre l'église comprenait une série de lois discriminatoires prussiennes qui rendaient les persévérants aux catholiques dans une nation à prédominance protestante».
