Lengthsman est un terme utilisé principalement dans les parcs nationaux anglais et utilisé à l'origine dans le parc national du district de Peak. Il se réfère à une personne qui garde une «longueur» de la route soignée et ordonnée. Cette personne était responsable de quelques kilomètres de route. Employé par le conseil paroissial local, son travail était de garder l'herbe et les mauvaises herbes coupées au bord de la route et le fossé de drainage clair.
