Lymphocytose
La lymphocytose est une augmentation du nombre ou de la proportion de lymphocytes dans le sang. Dans la lymphocytose absolue, le nombre total de lymphocytes est élevé. Chez les adultes, une lymphocytose absolue est présente lorsque le nombre absolu de lymphocytes est supérieur à 4000 par microlitre, chez les enfants plus âgés de plus de 7000 par microlitre et chez les nourrissons de plus de 9000 par microlitre. Les lymphocytes représentent normalement 20 à 40% des globules blancs circulants. La lymphocytose relative survient lorsqu'une proportion de lymphocytes est plus élevée chez les globules blancs, alors que le nombre absolu de lymphocytes est normal. La lymphocytose relative est normale chez les enfants de moins de 2 ans. La lymphocytose est habituellement détectée lorsqu'un nombre total de globules est systématiquement obtenu. Le nombre absolu de lymphocytes peut être directement mesuré par cytométrie de flux, ou calculé en multipliant le nombre total de globules blancs par le pourcentage de lymphocytes trouvés dans le compte différentiel.
