Le Umber Mottled est une mite de la famille Geometridae. C'est une espèce commune dans toute la région de Palearctic et dans le Proche-Orient. Les sourcils sont blanchis. Les formes vraiment mélaniques sont également fréquentes. Comme chez le Peppered Moth, les formes les plus sombres ont tendance à être répandues dans les zones industrielles. Les adultes sont actifs de septembre à décembre et les mâles sont attirés par la lumière. La larve est également très variable de la crème au brun foncé. Il se nourrit d'une grande variété d'arbres et d'arbustes et peut être un grave ravageur dans les vergers. Les espèces hivernent comme un œuf.
