L'oxycodone est un opioïde semi-synthétique synthétisé à partir de thébaïne dérivée du pavot. C'est un analgésique narcotique généralement indiqué pour le soulagement de la douleur modérée à sévère. Il a été développé en Allemagne en 1916 comme l'un des nombreux nouveaux opioïdes semi-synthétiques dans une tentative d'amélioration des opioïdes existants. L'oxycodone est disponible sous forme de médicament à un seul ingrédient dans la libération immédiate et la libération contrôlée.
