Phonologie
La phonologie est une branche de la linguistique concernée par l'organisation systématique des sons dans les langues. Il a traditionnellement mis l'accent principalement sur l'étude des systèmes de phonèmes dans des langues particulières, mais il peut également couvrir toute analyse linguistique soit à un niveau sous le mot ou à tous les niveaux de la langue où le son est considéré comme structuré pour transmettre le sens linguistique. La phonologie comprend également l'étude de systèmes organisationnels équivalents dans les langues des signes. Le mot phonologie peut également se référer au système phonologique d'une langue donnée. C'est l'un des systèmes fondamentaux dont une langue est considérée comme composée, comme sa syntaxe et son vocabulaire. La phonologie se distingue souvent de la phonétique. Alors que la phonétique concerne la production physique, la transmission acoustique et la perception des sons de la parole, la phonologie décrit la façon dont les sons fonctionnent dans une langue donnée ou à travers les langues pour coder le sens.
