Les oligopoles essayent habituellement de ne pas s'engager dans la réduction des prix, la publicité excessive ou d'autres formes de concurrence. Un leader sur les prix débouchera alors et établira le prix général de l'industrie, avec d'autres entreprises qui suivront.
