Propylthiouracile
Le propylthiouracile ou le 6-n-propylthiouracile est un médicament dérivé du thiouracile utilisé pour traiter l'hyperthyroïdie en diminuant la quantité d'hormone thyroïdienne produite par la glande thyroïde. Ses effets secondaires notables comprennent un risque d'agranulocytose et d'anémie aplasique. Le 3 juin 2009, la FDA a publié une alerte «informant les professionnels de la santé du risque de blessures graves au foie, y compris l'insuffisance hépatique et la mort, avec l'utilisation de propylthiouracile». En conséquence, le propylthiouracile n'est plus recommandé chez les adultes non enceintes et chez les enfants comme médicament antithyroïdien de première ligne.
