QUE SIGNIFIE RADIO GALAXY EN ANGLAIS
Radio galaxie
Les galaxies radio et leurs proches, quasars et blazars radio sont des types de galaxies actives très lumineuses aux longueurs d'ondes radio, avec des luminosités allant jusqu'à 1039 W entre 10 MHz et 100 GHz. L'émission radio est due au processus synchrotron. La structure observée dans l'émission radio est déterminée par l'interaction entre jets jumeaux et le milieu externe, modifié par les effets du rayonnement relativiste. Les galaxies hôtes sont presque exclusivement de grandes galaxies elliptiques. Les galaxies actives radio-fortes sont intéressantes non seulement en elles-mêmes, mais aussi parce qu'elles peuvent être détectées à grande distance, ce qui en fait des outils précieux pour la cosmologie d'observation. Récemment, beaucoup de travail a été fait sur les effets de ces objets sur le milieu intergalactique, en particulier dans les groupes de galaxies et les grappes.
