ARN ribosomique
En biologie moléculaire, l'acide ribonucléique ribosomique est le composant ARN du ribosome et est essentiel à la synthèse des protéines dans tous les organismes vivants. Il constitue le matériau prédominant dans le ribosome, soit environ 60% d'ARNr et 40% de protéines en poids. Les ribosomes contiennent deux ARNr majeurs et 50 protéines ou plus. Les rRNA LSU et SSU se trouvent respectivement dans les grandes et petites sous-unités ribosomales. L'ARNr LSU agit comme un ribozyme, catalysant la formation de liaison peptidique. Les séquences d'ARNr sont largement utilisées pour établir les relations d'évolution entre les organismes, puisqu'elles sont d'origine ancienne et se retrouvent dans toutes les formes de vie connues.
