Salinomètre
Un salinomètre est un dispositif conçu pour mesurer la salinité, ou la teneur en sel dissous, d'une solution. Étant donné que la salinité affecte à la fois la conductivité électrique et la densité d'une solution, un salinomètre se compose souvent d'un compteur ou d'un hydromètre et d'un moyen de convertir ces lectures en lecture de salinité. Un salinomètre peut être calibré soit en micromhos, soit en une unité de conductivité électrique, soit bien calibré directement pour le sel en «grains par gallon». Un navire à bord typique à bord serait de 2 micromhos ou 0,05 grains par gallon. Une lecture de deux fois cela peut déclencher un avertissement ou une alarme.
