Test de Schick
Le test de Schick, inventé entre 1910 et 1911, est un test utilisé pour déterminer si une personne est ou non sensible à la diphtérie. Il a été nommé d'après son inventeur, Béla Schick, un pédiatre américain né en Hongrie. Le test est une procédure simple. Une petite quantité de toxine diphtérique diluée est injectée par voie intradermique dans le bras de la personne. Si une personne n'a pas assez d'anticorps pour combattre, la peau autour de l'injection devient rouge et gonflée, ce qui indique un résultat positif. Cette enflure disparaît après quelques jours. Si la personne a une immunité, il se produira peu ou pas de gonflement et de rougeur, indiquant un résultat négatif. Les résultats peuvent être interprétés comme suit: ▪ Positif: lorsque le test aboutit à un moût de 5-10 mm de diamètre ▪ Pseudo-positif: lorsqu'il n'y a qu'une inflammation de couleur rouge et disparaît rapidement ▪ Réaction négative: ▪ réaction pseudo-négative: le test A été créé lorsque les agents immunisés étaient rares et pas très sûrs, cependant, à mesure que des toxoïdes plus récents et plus sûrs étaient disponibles, il n'y avait plus d'exigences pour les tests de sensibilité.
