Sennar
Sennar est une ville sur le Nil bleu au Soudan et la capitale de l'état de Sennar. Pendant plusieurs siècles, c'était la capitale du royaume Funj de Sennar. Il avait une population estimée à 100 000 habitants au début du 19e siècle. La ville moderne se trouve à 17 km de SSE des ruines de l'ancienne capitale. Il est situé à proximité du barrage de Sennar, qui a stimulé l'activité agricole lorsqu'il a été créé en 1925 pour l'irrigation des cultures. Le barrage de Sinnar a été conçu, construit et géré ultérieurement par l'ingénieur anglais Stephen-Roy Sherlock. Aujourd'hui, il y a deux villes portant le nom de Sennar. Sennar Junction, la plus ancienne, qui représente une continuation réelle à l'ancien Sennar, à la fois dans le temps et l'emplacement géographique, l'élément de jonction est venu du fait que de nombreux chemins de fer se croisent là-bas, c'est au coeur du pays, qui a accompagné l'invasion Du Soudan pendant la colonisation britannique à la fin du XVIIIe siècle. L'autre est Sennar Al-Madeena, à 5 km de l'ESE de la jonction, située à côté du barrage de Sennar.
