Crédit social
Le crédit social est une philosophie distributive interdisciplinaire développée par C. H. Douglas, ingénieur britannique, qui a écrit un livre de ce nom en 1924. Il englobe les domaines de l'économie, de la science politique, de l'histoire, de la comptabilité et de la physique. Ses politiques sont conçues, selon Douglas, pour disperser le pouvoir économique et politique aux individus. Douglas a écrit: "Les systèmes ont été conçus pour les hommes, et non pour les hommes pour les systèmes, et l'intérêt de l'homme qui est l'auto-développement, est avant tout les systèmes, qu'ils soient théologiques, politiques ou économiques". Douglas a déclaré que les créanciers sociaux voulaient construire une nouvelle civilisation fondée sur la «sécurité économique absolue» pour l'individu, où «ils s'assirent chacun sous sa vigne et sous son figuier, et personne ne doit leur faire peur». Dans ses mots, «ce que nous exigeons vraiment de l'existence n'est pas que nous soyons mis dans l'utopie de quelqu'un d'autre, mais nous serons en mesure de construire une utopie propre». C'était pendant qu'il réorganise le travail à Farnborough, pendant la Première Guerre mondiale, que Douglas a remarqué que les coûts totaux hebdomadaires des biens produits étaient supérieurs aux sommes versées aux particuliers pour les salaires, les salaires et les dividendes.
