Thecodontia
Thecodontia, maintenant considéré comme un groupement taxonomique obsolète, était autrefois utilisé pour décrire un «ordre» diversifié de premiers reptiles archosauriens qui apparurent pour la dernière période du Permien et prospéraient jusqu'à la fin de la période triasique. Tous ont été construits un peu comme les crocodiles, mais avec des crânes plus courts, des poses plus dressées et généralement plus légères. Le groupe comprend les ancêtres des dinosaures, des pterosaures et des crocodiliens, ainsi qu'un certain nombre de formes éteintes qui n'ont pas donné lieu à des descendants. Le terme «thecodont» est encore utilisé comme une description anatomique de la morphologie dentaire observée chez ces espèces et d'autres.
