Le vote instantané, le vote alternatif, le vote transférable, le vote par choix classé ou le vote préférentiel est un système électoral utilisé pour élire un seul gagnant d'un champ de plus de deux candidats. C'est un système de vote préférentiel dans lequel les électeurs classent les candidats par ordre de préférence plutôt que de voter pour un candidat unique. Les bulletins de vote sont initialement répartis en fonction de la première préférence de chaque électeur. Si un candidat obtient plus de la moitié des suffrages exprimés, ce candidat gagne. Sinon, le candidat ayant le moins de voix est éliminé. Les bulletins de vote attribués au candidat éliminé sont récapitulés et attribués à ceux des candidats restants qui classent le prochain par ordre de préférence sur chaque bulletin de vote. Ce processus se poursuit jusqu'à ce qu'un candidat gagne en obtenant plus de la moitié des votes. L'IRV a pour effet d'éviter les votes partagés et la nécessité pour les électeurs de voter «stratégiquement» pour les candidats qui ne sont pas leur premier choix. Par exemple; Supposons qu'il y ait deux candidats de parti similaires A \u0026 amp; B, et un troisième candidat opposant C, avec une popularité brute de 35%, 25% et 40% respectivement.
