Tuberculose
La tuberculose, le MTB ou la tuberculose, également appelée phthisie, phthisis pulmonaire ou consommation, est une maladie infectieuse mortelle et souvent fatale causée par diverses souches de mycobactéries, généralement Mycobacterium tuberculosis. La tuberculose attaque généralement les poumons, mais peut également affecter d'autres parties du corps. Il se propage dans l'air lorsque les personnes atteintes d'une infection tuberculeuse active tue, éternuent ou transmettent par voie aérienne des fluides respiratoires dans l'air. La plupart des infections ne présentent pas de symptômes, appelés tuberculose latente. Environ une sur dix d'infections latentes progresse éventuellement à une maladie active qui, si elle n'est pas traitée, tue plus de 50% de celles infectées. Les symptômes classiques de l'infection tuberculeuse active sont une toux chronique avec de l'expectoration sanguine, de la fièvre, des sueurs nocturnes et de la perte de poids. L'infection d'autres organes provoque un large éventail de symptômes. Le diagnostic de TB active repose sur la radiologie, ainsi que sur l'examen microscopique et la culture microbiologique des fluides corporels. Le diagnostic de la tuberculose latente repose sur le test cutané de la tuberculine et / ou des tests sanguins.
