La guerre de la succession espagnole a été menée entre les puissances européennes, y compris une Espagne divisée, sur qui avait le droit de succéder à Charles II comme roi d'Espagne. La guerre s'est déroulée principalement en Europe, mais a inclus la guerre de la Reine Anne en Amérique du Nord. Il a été marqué par la direction de généraux notables, y compris le duc de Villars, le duc jacobite de Berwick et surtout le partenariat fructueux du duc de Marlborough et du prince Eugène de Savoie.
