Xeroradiographie
Xeroradiography est un type de rayons X dans lequel une image du corps est enregistrée sur papier plutôt que sur film. Dans cette technique, une plaque de sélénium, qui repose sur une fine couche d'oxyde d'aluminium, est chargée uniformément en la passant devant un scorotron. À mesure que le photon à rayons X empêche cette couche amorphe de sélénium, les charges se diffusent, proportionnellement à la teneur en énergie des rayons X. Cela se produit en raison de la photoconduction. L'empreinte résultante, sous forme de distribution de charge sur la plaque, attire les particules de toner, qui est ensuite transférée sur des plaques de papier réutilisables. Contrairement aux rayons X conventionnels, les développeurs photographiques ne sont pas nécessaires. D'où le terme xeroradiographie; 'Xero' signifie sec en grec. Il nécessite plus d'exposition au rayonnement. Son utilisation est en mammographie. La Xeromammographie est une forme de xérooradiographie.
