Lignine
Lignine désigne un polymère de phénol liposoluble parmi divers constituants constituant la partie ligneuse des conifères et des arbres feuillus. Il vient du mot latin "lignum". Depuis la découverte d'Annetm Payen pour la première fois au début du XIXe siècle, de nombreuses études de base ont été réalisées par Erdman, Adler et Freudenberg sur la structure chimique et la caractérisation de la lignine chez les plantes ligneuses. Récemment, l'importance de la biomasse en tant que matière première pour la bioénergie a fait l'objet d'une attention toute particulière pour contrôler la teneur en lignine de la biomasse en introduisant les caractéristiques des enzymes impliquées dans la biosynthèse de la lignine et des techniques de biologie moléculaire. Selon la présence ou l'absence de lignine, la plante peut être séparée de l'herbe.
