Amphibia
Les amphibiens sont ectothermes, vertébrés tétrapodes des classes amphibies. Ils habitent de nombreux habitats où la plupart des espèces vivent sur des terres, des écosystèmes aquatiques fossiles, arboricoles ou d'eau douce. Les amphibiens commencent généralement comme des larves vivantes dans l'eau, mais certaines espèces ont développé des ajustements comportementaux pour les contourner. Les plus jeunes subissent généralement une métamorphose des larves avec les branchies à la forme adulte en forme de respiration avec les poumons. Les amphibiens utilisent la peau comme une surface respiratoire secondaire et certaines salamandres et grenouilles manquent de poumons et dépendent entièrement de la peau. Ils ressemblaient autrefois aux reptiles mais, avec les mammifères et les oiseaux, les reptiles sont des amniotes et ne nécessitent pas de plans d'eau pour se reproduire. Avec leurs complexes reproducteurs et reproducteurs, les amphibiens sont souvent des guides écologiques et, au cours des dernières décennies, il y a eu un déclin spectaculaire des populations d'amphibiens pour de nombreuses espèces dans le monde.
