Ion
Un ion est un atome, un groupe atomique ou une particule subatomique avec une seule quantité de charge électrique. Les ions les plus simples sont les électrons, les protons et les particules alpha. Un ion chargé négativement, qui a plus d'électrons dans la coquille d'électron que la quantité de protons dans le noyau, est connu comme anion, car il est attiré par l'anode; tandis qu'un ion chargé positivement, qui a moins d'électrons que de protons, est connu sous le nom de cation, car il est attiré par la cathode.
