Eiger est une montagne dans les Alpes bernoises avec une altitude de 3970 mètres. C'est la montagne la plus célèbre de l'histoire de l'alpinisme extrême. Ensemble avec Mönch et Jungfrau, ils forment un trio de grands sommets dans le nord de l'Oberland bernois en Suisse. Son mur nord est connu sous plusieurs noms: Eigerwand, Nordwand ou Mordwand - le nom qui a commencé à être défini par de nombreuses tentatives tragiquement achevées pour l'acquérir. En 1912, la construction d'un train à crémaillère sur le col du Jungfraujoch a été achevée et s'étend sur plusieurs kilomètres à l'intérieur de l'Eiger. Deux fenêtres ont été faites dans le mur nord, permettant une observation attentive. Le train s'arrête toujours à ces endroits pour que les touristes puissent profiter des points de vue. Wraz z Mönchem i Jungfrau tworzy trio wielkich szczytów w północnej części berneńskiego Oberlandu w Szwajcarii. Jego północna ściana znana jest pod kilkoma nazwami: Eigerwand, Nordwand lub Mordwand – to nazwa, jaką zaczęto określać ją po wielu tragicznie zakończonych próbach jej zdobycia. W 1912 roku ukończono budowę kolejki zębatej na przełęcz Jungfraujoch, która biegnie przez kilka kilometrów we wnętrzu Eigeru.
