Un octet, baite ou octet, est l'un des types de données intégrales en informatique. Il est souvent utilisé pour spécifier la taille ou la quantité de mémoire ou la capacité de stockage d'un périphérique donné, quel que soit le type de données. Le codage d'octets standard a été défini sur 8 bits. L'octet de 8 bits est le plus souvent appelé un octet dans le contexte des réseaux informatiques et de télécommunications. À la moitié d'un octet, il s'appelle grignoter ou semi-octet. Pour les ordinateurs, la représentation de 256 nombres binaires est suffisante. Par conséquent, les octets ont 8 bits. Fais juste le calcul. Puisqu'un bit représente deux valeurs et qu'un octet représente 8 bits, faites simplement 2 à 8 qui est égal à 256, c'est-à-dire. Notez qu'un octet n'a rien de spécial, c'est juste un nombre binaire à huit chiffres. Son importance en informatique découle uniquement du fait que le code ASCII a adopté des nombres à huit bits, en plus de raisons purement constructives ou opérationnelles.

É usado com frequência para especificar o tamanho ou quantidade da memória ou da capacidade de armazenamento de um certo dispositivo, independentemente do tipo de dados. A codificação padronizada de byte foi definida como sendo de 8 bits. O byte de 8 bits é mais comumente chamado de octeto no contexto de redes de computadores e telecomunicações. A uma metade de um byte, dá-se o nome de nibble ou semioctecto. Para os computadores, representar 256 números binários é suficiente. Por isso, os bytes possuem 8 bits. Basta fazer os cálculos. Como um bit representa dois valores e um byte representa 8 bits, basta fazer 2 elevado a 8 que é igual a 256, ou seja. Note que um byte nada tem de especial, é apenas um número binário de oito algarismos. Sua importância na informática deriva apenas do fato do código ASCII haver adotado números de oito bits, além de razões meramente construtivas ou operacionais.
