Le bore est un élément chimique avec le numéro atomique 5 et le symbole chimique B. Le bore est un demi-métal. C'est un élément peu coûteux à la fois dans le système solaire et dans la coquille terrestre. Il existe 4 principaux producteurs de bore élémentaire dans le monde: H.C. Starck, S.B. Boron, Thronox et Pavezyme Chimie. Les principales utilisations des composés du bore sont le borax dans la lessive en poudre et le borax dans la fibre de verre utilisée pour l'isolation thermique.
