Migration ist eine bedeutende Änderung im Leben eines Menschen und mit großen, zum Teil lebensbedrohlichen Risiken verbunden, und zerreißt oft Familienverbände und soziale Strukturen. Deswegen findet Migration meist aufgrund von Ausnahmesituationen wie Krieg, Not oder Verfolgung statt, in einem vermutlich geringeren Anteil spielen Neugier und die Hoffnung auf ökonomische Verbesserung eine Rolle.
