जीन-बैप्टिस्ट पियरे एंटोनी डे मॉनेट, चेवालियर डे लामेरर्क (जन्म 1 अगस्त, 1844 को बैजेंटीन-ले-पेटीट, फ्रांस, 18 दिसंबर, 18 9 2 में फ्रांस में एक फ्रांसीसी वनस्पतिशास्त्री और प्राणी विज्ञानी थे) लैमेरक, अवेदक जानवरों के आधुनिक जीव विज्ञान के संस्थापक हैं, ने जीव विज्ञान की अवधारणा को जन्म दिया और विकास का एक सिद्ध सिद्धांत पेश करने वाले पहले थे। मुख्य सिद्धांत के रूप में, इसमें जीवों के एक निर्देशित विकास शामिल होता है जिसके परिणामस्वरूप दोहराए जानेवाले उत्कृष्ठ पीढ़ी उत्पन्न होते हैं, जिसके द्वारा व्यक्तिगत कक्षाएं बनती हैं; और उप-सिद्धांत के रूप में अधिग्रहित संपत्तियों का उत्तराधिकार है, जो प्रजातियों की विविधता को जन्म देती है। केवल 1 9वीं शताब्दी के उत्तरार्द्ध के बाद से यह बाद के सिद्धांत को लैमरकिस के रूप में वर्णित किया गया है। उनके वनस्पति लेखक का नारा "लम" है।

Jean-Baptiste Pierre Antoine de Monet, Chevalier de Lamarck (* 1. August 1744 in Bazentin-le-Petit (Département Somme); † 18. Dezember 1829 in Paris) war ein französischer Botaniker und Zoologe. Lamarck ist der Begründer der modernen Zoologie der wirbellosen Tiere, prägte den Begriff Biologie und legte als erster eine ausformulierte Evolutionstheorie vor. Diese umfasst als Hauptprinzip eine gerichtete Höherentwicklung von durch wiederholte Urzeugung entstandenen Organismen, durch die die einzelnen Klassen entstehen; und als Nebenprinzip die Vererbung erworbener Eigenschaften, die zur Artenvielfalt führt. Nur dieses letztere Prinzip wird seit dem späteren 19. Jahrhundert als Lamarckismus bezeichnet. Sein botanisches Autorenkürzel lautet „Lam.“.
