Lente acromatica
Un obiettivo acromatico o un aromatico è una lente progettata per limitare gli effetti di aberrazione cromatica e sferica. Le lenti acromatiche sono corrette per portare due lunghezze d'onda in messa a fuoco nello stesso piano. Il tipo più comune di acromatico è il dublettino acromatico, composto da due lenti singole realizzate con vetri con diverse quantità di dispersione. Tipicamente, un elemento è un elemento negativo realizzato in vetro spintonico come F2, che ha una dispersione relativamente elevata e l'altro è un elemento positivo in vetro coronato come BK7, che ha una dispersione più bassa. Gli elementi dell'obiettivo sono montati uno accanto all'altro, spesso cementati insieme e sagomati in modo che l'aberrazione cromatica di uno sia controbilanciata da quella dell'altro. Nel tipo più comune, il potere positivo dell'elemento dell'obiettivo della corona non è abbastanza uguagliato dalla potenza negativa dell'elemento dell'obiettivo della foca. Insieme formano una lente positiva debole che porterà due diverse lunghezze d'onda di luce ad un focus comune. Sono anche fatti i doppi negativi, in cui predomina l'elemento negativo-potenza.
