Akhenaton
Akhenaton noto prima del quinto anno del suo regno come Amenhotep IV, era un faraone della XVIII dinastia d'Egitto che ha governato per 17 anni ed è morto forse nel 1336 aC e 1334 aC. È particolarmente noto per aver abbandonato il politeismo egiziano tradizionale e introdotto il culto incentrato sull'Aten, a volte descritto come monoteista o henotheistico. Un'iscrizione presto paragona l'Aten al sole rispetto alle stelle, e la lingua in seguito ufficiale evita di chiamare l'Aten un dio, dando la divinità solare uno stato al di sopra mere dèi. Akhenaten ha cercato di fare una differenza dalla religione tradizionale, ma alla fine non sarebbe accettata.
