CHE SIGNIFICA AUTOIONIZATION IN INGLESE
autoionizzazione
L'autoionizzazione è un processo attraverso il quale gli atomi o le molecole emettono spontaneamente uno degli elettroni di guscio, passando dunque da uno stato con carica Z ad uno stato con carica Z + 1, ad esempio da uno stato elettricamente neutro a uno stato ionizzato singolo. Gli atomi possono autoionizzare quando due o più elettroni di valenza sono eccitati o uno o più elettroni di shell interni mancano. In quest'ultimo caso, si chiama l'effetto Auger. Le molecole, inoltre, possono sperimentare l'autoionizzazione vibrazionale. Gli stati di autoionizzazione di solito sono di breve durata e possono quindi essere descritti come risonanze piuttosto che da stati limitati.
