Betws-y-Coed si trova nel Parco Nazionale di Snowdonia, in una valle vicino al punto in cui il fiume Conwy è unito dal fiume Llugwy e dal fiume Lledr ed è stato fondato intorno a Monastero alla fine del VI secolo.
