Probabilità condizionale
Nella teoria della probabilità, una probabilità condizionale misura la probabilità di un evento dato che (per assunzione, presunzione, affermazione o prova) si è verificato un altro evento. Se gli eventi sono rispettivamente A e B, si dice che sia "la probabilità di un dato B". È comunemente indicato con P (A B), o talvolta PB (A). Nel caso in cui sia "A" che "B" siano variabili categoriali, viene utilizzata tipicamente la tabella di probabilità condizionale per rappresentare la probabilità condizionale. Il concetto di probabilità condizionale è uno dei più fondamentali e uno dei più importanti concetti della teoria della probabilità. Ma le probabilità condizionali possono essere abbastanza scivolose e richiedono un'attenta interpretazione. In inferenza statistica, la probabilità condizionale è un aggiornamento della probabilità di un evento basato su nuove informazioni.
