Nella fisica della materia condensata, una coppia Cooper o una coppia BCS è una coppia di elettroni legati a basse temperature in un certo modo descritto nel 1956 dal fisico americano Leon Cooper. Cooper ha mostrato che un'attrazione arbitrariamente piccola tra elettroni in un metallo può causare uno stato accoppiato di elettroni ad avere una energia inferiore rispetto all'energia di Fermi, il che implica che la coppia è legata. Nei superconduttori convenzionali, questa attrazione è dovuta all'interazione elettron-phonon. Lo stato del paio di Cooper è responsabile della superconduttività, come descritto nella teoria BCS sviluppata da John Bardeen, Leon Cooper e John Schrieffer per il quale hanno condiviso il Premio Nobel del 1972.
