Un distributary, o un canale distributary, è un flusso che scende e scorre da un canale di flusso principale. Sono una caratteristica comune dei delti del fiume. Il fenomeno è conosciuto come biforcazione del fiume. L'opposto di un distributary è un affluente. I distributori di solito si verificano come un flusso che si avvicina a un lago o all'oceano, ma possono anche verificarsi nell'entroterra, come ad esempio sui ventilatori alluvionali o quando un flusso tributario si biforcano in quanto si avvicina alla sua confluenza con un flusso più grande.
