CHE SIGNIFICA ECOCIDE IN INGLESE
Ecocide
Il termine ecocide si riferisce ad eventuali danni estesi o distruzione del paesaggio naturale e alla perturbazione o alla perdita dell'ecosistema di un determinato territorio in misura tale da compromettere la sopravvivenza degli abitanti di quel territorio. Ecocide può essere irreversibile quando un ecosistema soffre oltre la guarigione auto. Generalmente è associato a danni causati da un agente vivo direttamente o indirettamente. Un organismo potrebbe infliggere l'ecocidio direttamente uccidendo specie sufficienti in un ecosistema per disturbare la sua struttura e la sua funzione. Ecocide può anche derivare da inquinamento come l'introduzione di alte concentrazioni di pesticidi che distruggono la flora locale in maniera estensiva. Una definizione più debole dell'ecocidio è quella in cui un organismo distrugge altri ecosistemi diversi da quelli propri. Ad esempio, si potrebbe dire che durante l'epoca precambrica, le alghe azzurre si impegnarono in ecocidi sulla prevalente ecologia della chimica riducente-chimica, rilasciando Ossigeno nell'ambiente. Gli organismi a cui l'ossigeno era un veleno morirono, mentre le alghe e altri organismi si adattarono e crearono una nuova ecologia dell'ossidazione-chimica.
