Rospo comune
Il rospo comune, il rospo europeo o nelle parti dell'Europa anglofona, semplicemente il rospo, è un anfibio trovato in gran parte d'Europa, nella parte occidentale dell'Asia settentrionale e in una piccola porzione dell'Africa nord-occidentale. È uno di un gruppo di animali strettamente connessi che sono discendenti da una linea ancestrale comune di rospi e che formano un complesso di specie. Il rospo è un animale inconsapevole, come di solito è nascosto durante il giorno. Diventa attivo al crepuscolo e trascorre la notte a caccia degli invertebrati su cui alimenta. Si muove con una passeggiata lenta e sgombra e ha una pelle marrone grigiastro ricoperta di grumi di verruca. Anche se di solito un animale solitario, nella stagione di allevamento un gran numero di rospi convergono su alcuni stagni di riproduzione, dove i maschi competono per adattarsi alle femmine. Le uova vengono posate in corde gelatinose nell'acqua e successivamente estraggono in tadpoles. Dopo molti mesi di crescita e di sviluppo, questi germogli germogli e subiscono metamorfosi in piccoli rospi. I minori emergono dall'acqua e rimangono in gran parte terrestri per il resto della loro vita.
