Un estere di decanoato a lunga durata di haloperidol viene utilizzato come iniezione che viene somministrata ogni quattro settimane a persone con schizofrenia o malattie correlate che hanno scarsa adesione ai regimi di farmaco e soffrono frequenti ricadute di malattia o per superare gli inconvenienti inerenti alla sua controparte somministrata oralmente.
