CHE SIGNIFICA HETEROKARYOSIS IN INGLESE
eterocariosi
L'eterocariosi è un termine usato in biologia che significa avere due o più nuclei geneticamente diversi all'interno dello stesso micelio di un fungo o di un'altra forma di vita. Questo è un tipo speciale di syncytium. Il termine eterokario è stato coniato nel 1965 da B. Ephrussi e M. Weiss; H. Harris e J.F. Watkins; Y. Okada e F. Murayama. Un eterocarino è una cellula con più nuclei di diversa origine genetica. Il termine è stato usato per primi protozoi ciliati come Tetrahymena. Questo ha due tipi di nuclei cellulari, un grande macronucleo somatico e un piccolo micronucleo germinale. Entrambi esistono in una sola cellula allo stesso tempo e svolgono diverse funzioni con differenti proprietà citologiche e biochimiche. Molti funghi presentano eterokariosi. I nuclei haploidi all'interno di un micelio possono differire l'uno dall'altro, non solo accumulando mutazioni, ma con la fusione non-sessuale di ioni fungine geneticamente distinte. Ciò può portare a individui che hanno diversi nuclei in diverse parti del loro micelio. In questo caso, la nozione di individuo diventa vaga poiché la regola di un genoma = un individuo non si applica più.
