Un idrofono è un microfono progettato per essere utilizzato sott'acqua per la registrazione o l'ascolto di suoni subacquei. La maggior parte degli idrofoni si basa su un trasduttore piezoelettrico che genera elettricità quando viene sottoposto a un cambiamento di pressione.
