Alfabeto iniziale di insegnamento
L'alfabeto iniziale di insegnamento è una variante dell'alfabeto latino sviluppato da Sir James Pitman nei primi anni '60. Non era inteso essere una trascrizione rigorosamente fonetica dei suoni inglesi, o una riforma ortografica per l'inglese come tale, ma piuttosto un pratico sistema di scrittura semplificato che potrebbe essere utilizzato per insegnare ai bambini di lingua inglese leggere più facilmente di quanto possa essere fatto con i tradizionali ortografia. Dopo che i bambini avevano imparato a leggere con I.T.A., avrebbero poi continuato a imparare l'ortografia inglese standard. Anche se ha raggiunto un certo grado di popolarità negli anni '60, è caduto in disuso.
