Kulturkampf
Il termine tedesco Kulturkampf si riferisce alle politiche tedesche in relazione alla laicità e riduce il ruolo e il potere della Chiesa cattolica romana in Prussia, attuato dal 1871 al 1878 dal Primo ministro della Prussia, Otto von Bismarck. Bismarck ha accelerato il Kulturkampf, che non si estese agli altri stati tedeschi come la Baviera. Come afferma uno studioso, "l'attacco alla chiesa ha incluso una serie di leggi discriminatorie prussiane che hanno fatto sentire i cattolici perseguitati in una nazione prevalentemente protestante".
