logogramma
Un logogramma o una logografia è un grafico che rappresenta una parola o un morpheme. Ciò è in contrasto con i fonogrammi, che rappresentano fonemi o combinazioni di fonemi e determinanti, che segnano categorie semantiche. I logogrammi sono comunemente conosciuti anche come "ideogrammi". Tuttavia, ideogrammi rappresentano idee direttamente, piuttosto che parole e morfemi, e nessuno dei sistemi logografici qui descritti è veramente ideografico. Una caratteristica di logogrammi è che un singolo logogramma può essere utilizzato da una pluralità di lingue per rappresentare parole con significati simili.
