Trasporto a membrana
Nella biologia cellulare il termine trasporto di membrana si riferisce alla raccolta di meccanismi che regolano il passaggio di soluti come ioni e piccole molecole attraverso membrane biologiche, che sono due strati lipidici che contengono proteine incorporate in essi. La regolazione del passaggio attraverso la membrana è dovuta alla permeabilità selettiva della membrana - una caratteristica delle membrane biologiche che li permette di separare sostanze di natura chimica distinta. In altre parole, possono essere permeabili a determinate sostanze, ma non ad altri. I movimenti della maggior parte dei soluti attraverso la membrana sono mediati dalle proteine di trasporto delle membrane specializzate in varie forme nel trasporto di molecole specifiche. Poiché la diversità e la fisiologia delle cellule distinte è altamente correlata alle loro capacità di attirare elementi esterni diversi, si afferma che esiste un gruppo di specifiche proteine di trasporto per ogni tipo di cellula e per ogni fase specifica fisiologica.
