Monismo
Il monismo è la visione filosofica che una varietà di cose esistenti può essere spiegata in termini di una singola realtà o di una sostanza. L'ampia definizione afferma che tutte le cose esistenti vanno da una fonte che è distinta da esse. Una definizione di monismo, comunemente usata e limitata, afferma la presenza di una sostanza o di una essenza unificanti. Bisogna distinguere il "monismo di roba" dal "monismo di cose". Secondo il monismo di cose c'è solo un tipo di cose, anche se ci possono essere molte cose fatte da questa roba. Secondo il monismo-cosa esiste esattamente solo una singola cosa, che può essere articolata artificialmente e arbitrariosamente in molte cose. A differenza del monismo, sono il dualismo metafisico e il pluralismo metafisico. Il termine monismo è nato dalla filosofia occidentale e spesso è stato applicato a diverse religioni.
