La legge dell'Ohm afferma che la corrente attraverso un conduttore tra due punti è direttamente proporzionale alla differenza potenziale tra i due punti. Introdurre la costante di proporzionalità, la resistenza, si arriva alla solita equazione matematica che descrive questa relazione: dove I è la corrente attraverso il conduttore in unità di ampere, V è la differenza di potenza misurata attraverso il conduttore in unità di volt e R È la resistenza del conduttore in unità di ohm. Più in particolare, la legge di Ohm afferma che il R in questa relazione è costante, indipendente dalla corrente. La legge fu nominata dal fisico tedesco Georg Ohm, che in un trattato pubblicato nel 1827 descrisse le misure di tensione e corrente applicate attraverso semplici circuiti elettrici contenenti vari lunghezze di filo. Ha presentato un'equazione leggermente più complessa di quella precedente per spiegare i suoi risultati sperimentali. L'equazione di cui sopra è la forma moderna della legge Ohm. Nella fisica, il termine Ohm legge è anche usato per fare riferimento a diverse generalizzazioni della legge originariamente formulato da Ohm.

Ohm's law states that the current through a conductor between two points is directly proportional to the potential difference across the two points. Introducing the constant of proportionality, the resistance, one arrives at the usual mathematical equation that describes this relationship: where I is the current through the conductor in units of amperes, V is the potential difference measured across the conductor in units of volts, and R is the resistance of the conductor in units of ohms. More specifically, Ohm's law states that the R in this relation is constant, independent of the current. The law was named after the German physicist Georg Ohm, who, in a treatise published in 1827, described measurements of applied voltage and current through simple electrical circuits containing various lengths of wire. He presented a slightly more complex equation than the one above to explain his experimental results. The above equation is the modern form of Ohm's law. In physics, the term Ohm's law is also used to refer to various generalizations of the law originally formulated by Ohm.
