Nella chimica, un oligomero è un complesso molecolare che consiste in alcune unità monomeriche, in contrasto con un polimero che, almeno in linea di principio, consiste in un numero quasi illimitato di monomeri. Dimeri, trimeri e tetrameri sono per esempio oligomeri composti rispettivamente da due, tre e quattro monomeri. Nel contesto della biochimica, un oligomero è comunemente indicato come un complesso macromolecolare formato da un legame non covalente di alcune macromolecole come proteine o acidi nucleici. In questo senso, un oomo-oligomero sarebbe formato da poche molecole identiche e, al contrario, un etero oligomero sarebbe fatto di tre macromolecole diverse. Il collagene è un esempio di proteina homooligomerica che è composta da tre catene proteiche identiche. Il termine multimer è usato con un significato simile a quello dell'oligomero nel contesto delle proteine.
