Ossezia
L'Ossezia è una regione etnolinguistica situata su entrambi i lati delle montagne del Caucaso Maggiore, ampiamente abitata dagli Osseziani. La lingua osetica fa parte del ramo iraniano orientale della famiglia delle lingue indoeuropee. L'area osetica a sud del crinale principale del Caucaso è riconosciuto dalla maggior parte dei paesi all'interno dei confini della Georgia, ma sotto il controllo del governo de facto sostenuto dalla Russia della Repubblica dell'Ossezia del Sud. La parte settentrionale della regione è costituita dalla repubblica dell'Ossezia del Nord-Alania all'interno della Federazione russa.
